PASSIVE RESISTANCE FIGHTERS 1946 – A Selection of Documents is a record of the second resistance movements waged by Indians in the country; the first was waged by Gandhi at the beginning of the century. the 1946 campaign was seminal in the gestation of the anti-apartheid front, at home and abroad. It was the forerunner to the Defiance of Unjust Laws Campaign, organised jointly by the SA Indian Congress and African National Congress; it placed the issue of racism on the sanctions against South Africa. This is the first comprehensive record of the campaign and fills a crucial gap in our history.
