Pitru Paksha or Shradh is a 16 day prayer in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadarvo. It is a Hindu ritual that one performs to pay homage to one’s ancestors by offering food. Shradh commences on Purnima or Full Moon day and concludes on Amavasya or the New Moon day.  As per Hindu religion, the Shradh of a departed elder should be performed every year on the date (tithi) and month of the deceased; however, if the date I not known then Shradh could be performed on the Amavasya of that month.

The Shree Pretoria Hindu Seva Samaj resident priest performs a Pitru Havan . it is a puja and havan in the name of our ancestors.
